Mobile Tire Replacement - No Spare Tire

Many often times while driving down the road.... your vehicle's tire may encounter a FLAT TIRE.

Yes, I know.... pretty bad, right ? But it happens to the best of us. Even roadside assistance personnel.

So after it happens... I'm pretty sure that what most people do is to get out of the vehicle to check to see which tire went flat and what happened pretty much.

So, upon getting out of the vehicle.... after seeing which tire went flat.... the next move is to go to the rear of the vehicle to see if there is a SPARE TIRE present that can be placed onto the vehicle to get the vehicle going again.

And to the surprise of many.... after checking for that beloved spare tire... that's when the reality & realization that the vehicle DOES NOT have a spare tire at all hits the driver like a ton of bricks. And many times, that's a vehicle with ZERO MILES, BRAND NEW vehicle straight from the dealership and fresh off of the dealership's parking lot.

You would think that most luxury vehicles that people usually spend an arm and a leg for would have a spare tire that came with them but unfortunately they don't most of the time which is not to say that some of these vehicles don't come with spare tires.

And believe it or not.... the vehicles that are notoriously known for coming with a spare tire brand new are now having a spare tire being offered as an option at the dealership at the expense of the buyer as to whether or not they would like to spend the additional money to purchase a spare tire while they are buying the vehicle.

Now there are many rationalizations or logical online explanations on why these vehicles don't come with spare tires anymore.... but none of them seems to make sense to us either such as:

  1. an average spare tire weighs approximately 25 lbs so it has been excluded from vehicles due to the fact that the weight of the spare tire interferes with the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

  2. there isn't enough room for the spare tire in the trunk area of the vehicle.

  3. lowering production costs to save the vehicle manufacturer money in the long run.

Even though all of these reasons may seem to be acceptable to them.... not having access to a spare tire in the event of a flat tire, places a motorist in a totally HORRIBLE, UNDESIRABLE & many times, UNSAFE situation for more than one reason....

Here are a few reasons:

  1. from a public safety perspective, the longer that a vehicle remains on a highway is the more danger that vehicle is placed in as it may be struck by another vehicle traveling don the roadway and may injure or kill the occupants of that vehicle

  2. timewise, it makes no sense to not have a spare tire that could be easily and quickly installed to get that vehicle in a driveable state again therefore minimizing the time spent otherwise waiting for a tow truck or towing service.

  3. important appointments, business meetings, reporting to work on time, special occasions such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, food deliveries.

  4. in route to a serious medical emergency or a doctor's appointment that was on the calendar some time ago, a company's contractual obligation to have a delivery dropped off or delivered at a specific time (regarding the continuance of the contract between the two parties).

In short.... we believe that all vehicles should have a SPARE TIRE in the vehicle at ALL TIMES not only for safety purposes but for all of the reasons mentioned above.
